Internship – Automation of a Multi-Scale CAE Process Chain
At Bosch Research, research meets application. Around 1,750 experts around the world develop the technologies of tomorrow — and beyond. Our researchers are involved in around a quarter of the patent applications filed by Bosch. On the one hand, we help all Bosch divisions to develop the next generation of products or the generation after that. On the other hand, we look far into the future: with our partners in science and industry, we identify technologies and trends which will shape our lives in the future and make them usable for the entire company.
Tasks:
treatment of metallic materials
models in the simulation chain
Profile:
The internship can be done in German or English, according to your preference
Bachelor-/ Master Thesis: »Quality assurance system for augmented reality components«
The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft (www.fraunhofer.com) is one of the world’s leading organizations for application-oriented research. 75 institutes develop pioneering technologies for our economy and society – more precisely: 32 000 people from technology, science, administration and IT.
At the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology IPT in Aachen, we are creating the production of the future with more than 450 employees – digital, sustainable and resilient. In the department »Production Quality«, we focus on increasing productivity and cost-effectiveness in production systems by analyzing and optimizing the quality of both processes and products. In collaboration with Carl ZEISS Vision GmbH in Aalen, we are developing advanced production systems for high-quality, regulatory-compliant manufacturing of augmented reality (AR) components.
The growing demand for AR devices requires strict manufacturing standards to ensure performance, safety, and regulatory compliance. As part of your thesis, you will work on site at the Carl ZEISS Vision GmbH production facility in Aalen. You will investigate the development of test protocols for quality assurance of optoelectronic AR components in the key phases of assembly, testing, and shipping (Final Assembly, Test, and Pack – FATP). The focus will be on analyzing electrical and optical quality characteristics in compliance with regulations for medical devices and electronics.

In the department for »Production Quality«, we focus on the digitalization of production systems in order to increase the quality, resilience and sustainability of production processes.
The optimization of production processes is gaining in importance due to the increasing requirements for efficiency and sustainability of processes, but is also becoming more complex. Artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to significantly improve the optimization of production processes in terms of time, cost and resource efficiency. The challenges arise from the selection and configuration of AI algorithms and the interaction between AI and process engineers. In your thesis, you will investigate how AI algorithms can be utilized for multi-objective process optimization and integrated into production engineering practice.
