Master Thesis: Capture and analysis of product knowledge stored in simulation models for the application of MBSE

Webseite Institute of Machine Elements and System Engineering
Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) makes it possible to store all information about a product in models and to link these to create a central system model, thereby accelerating the product development process and making it more efficient. However, transferring existing simulation models into MBSE system models is very time-consuming, as these models describe different aspects and parts of the product and sometimes overlap. Previous work has already investigated how simulation models can be analyzed regarding their product architecture. As part of a master’s thesis, this procedure is to be applied to analyze an electric motor regarding its structure and thus enable the transfer to an MBSE system model. The method must be developed further.
Tasks:
- Familiarization with the fundamentals of model-based systems engineering
- Analysis of the simulation model with regard to its scope and description variables
- Derivation of a product architecture using an existing method
- Extension of the method for recording physical interactions within the product
- Extension of the method for connecting an existing model librar
Prerequisites:
- Independent, reliable way of working and motivation to make an active contribution to current research in the field of MBSE
- Previous knowledge in connection with the topic is desirable but not a prerequisite
- Programming experience is an advantage
We offer:
- Flexible arrangement of main focuses
- Immediate starting opportunity
- Intensive support
- Very good working atmosphere
- The thesis is offered in German or English
