Project / Bachelor thesis: Further development and experimental validation of a sensor for condition monitoring

Webseite Institute of Machine Elements and System Engineering

The Institute of Machine Elements and System Engineering researches the fundamental structural and tribological behavior of machine elements and represents them in experimentally validated model descriptions. These model descriptions are used to analyze and design the functional, loss and noise behavior of entire technical systems with a focus on drive technology. The developed models are also used to research and develop methods of Model Based Systems Engineering as a central element of future inductive product development processes.

Condition monitoring and predictive maintenance are technological innovations and key factors for sustainable success in various industrial sectors. By continuously monitoring the condition of machines and systems and predicting possible failures, companies can minimize production losses and avoid consequential damage to other components. For widespread use in practice, the costs of the required sensor technology must be reduced. To this end, an initial prototype of a piezoelectric sensor has been developed, which must be validated experimentally as part of further product development.
