Project / Bachelor thesis: Condition monitoring of wind turbines: profitability analysis

Webseite Institute of Machine Elements and System Engineering

The Institute of Machine Elements and System Engineering researches the fundamental structural and tribological behavior of machine elements and represents them in experimentally validated model descriptions. These model descriptions are used to analyze and design the functional, loss and noise behavior of entire technical systems with a focus on drive technology. The developed models are also used to research and develop methods of Model Based Systems Engineering as a central element of future inductive product development processes.

Condition monitoring and predictive maintenance are technological innovations and key factors for sustainable success in various industrial sectors. By continuously monitoring the condition of machines and systems and predicting possible failures, companies can minimize production losses and avoid consequential damage to other components. The economic benefits of condition monitoring for vibration and acoustic emission are to be worked out as part of the student research project.

Tasks:

  • Literature research on the state of the art and research
  • Identification of possible applications for condition monitoring
  • Comparison between vibration and acoustic emission as measured variables
  • Evaluation of the economic efficiency of both technologies

Requirements:

  • Interest in new technologies and condition monitoring
  • Initial experience in scientific writing is desirable
  • Independent and reliable way of working
  • Good knowledge of German and English

We offer:

  • Currently relevant and future-oriented problems
  • Flexible organization of the work focus
  • Intensive support in the form of weekly regular meetings
  • Pleasant working atmosphere
  • Immediate start or by arrangement
  • Possibility of continued employment following the final thesis

I will be happy to discuss any unanswered questions about your thesis in a personal meeting.

We look forward to your application by email:
