Bachelor/Master Thesis: Design and Modification of a PoD Tribometer

Webseite Institut für Maschinenelemente und Systementwicklung

The Institute of Machine Elements and Systems Engineering researches the fundamental structural and tribological behavior of machine elements and represents this in experimentally validated model descriptions. These model descriptions are used to analyze and design the functional, loss, and noise behavior of entire technical systems, with a focus on drive technology. The developed models also serve the research and development of methods for Model-Based Systems Engineering as a central element of future industrial product development processes.

As part of this thesis, a PoD tribometer is to be structurally modified so that it can be converted from a rotary to a linear reciprocating motion. The successful implementation of this modification will enable the tribometer to be used in new application areas and expand experimental possibilities.

Tasks:

  • Development of a methodology to convert rotary to linear reciprocating motion
  • Creation of a CAD model of the modified PoD tribometer setup
  • Documentation and presentation of the results

Requirements:

  • Independent, reliable working style
  • Interest in drive technology and interdisciplinary issues
  • Prior knowledge in CAD is desirable

We offer:

  • A currently relevant and future-oriented problem
  • Flexible design of work priorities
  • Intensive supervision
  • Immediate start or by arrangement
