In the course of the fourth industrial revolution, modern technologies are increasingly being integrated into existing industrial networks so that different machines can now be networked and data from various sources can be analyzed together. Based on these possibilities, physical states can be mapped in the digital world and represented in the form of a digital twin. Although digital twins have already been discussed extensively on a conceptual level in academia, the implementation of digital twins for companies turns out to be far more complicated. The reasons for this include a poor understanding of how to set up a digital twin and a lack of a systematic approach to implementation. In order to help companies with this, a digital twin for a robot controller will be developed in the course of this thesis, and a methodical procedure for companies will be derived based on this example.

What you will do

  • Support in the development of the robot control system
  • Extraction of data and development of a digital twin
  • Visualization of the digital twin using a front-end framework
  • Validation and documentation of the results

What you bring to the table

  • You are studying industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, or a comparable subject
  • A high degree of initiative, motivation, and team spirit
  • Good language skills in German and/or English
  • Previous experience with OPC-UA or MQTT is advantageous
  • Previous experience with frontend frameworks like Vue.js, React, or Angular is advantageous
