The Role:

Firestone Industrial Products produces air springs for Automotive, Commercial Vehicle, Industrial, and the Rail transportation markets. This Engineering intern role is within the Engineering team to assist with the design of OE and aftermarket air spring assemblies for suspensions used on Automotive OEM, semi-trucks, trailers, buses, and other non-Automotive applications. The Engineering intern can also take part in lean continuous improvement projects of the company.

As an Engineering intern, you will:

  • Participate in the complete design/release process from project initiation to prototypes to production implementation.
  • Work with internal and external customer’s design inputs to determine proper air spring design requirements
  • Contribute to building the Firestone Engineering Process
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including sales, research, procurement, quality, manufacturing, finance, suppliers, etc. to resolve potential critical path timeline concerns.
  • Follow IATF 16949 principles/procedures/documentation
  • Occasional punctual travels may be required

Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in an engineering focused degree program at an accredited school
  • Transportation industry experience preferred
  • Strong understanding/demonstration of engineering fundamentals
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software
  • High level of English proficiency required
  • High level of interpersonal and relationship management skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with various levels of the organization is needed
  • Strong mechanical aptitude (Formula SAE/Baja) preferred

Internship details:

  • Duration: Minimum 6 months
  • Start Date: August/September 2022
  • Monthly allowance: 600€/month
